Liturgical Ministries
St. Mary Student Parish is blessed with many parishioners and students who serve in liturgical ministries. Liturgical ministers help create a prayerful and welcoming environment for worship. Your service is essential to the life of our parish.
Lector
Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Mass. Ministers are scheduled on a rotating basis and receive training and a workbook to help them prepare. If you are interested in becoming a lector, please contact the parish office.
Eucharistic Minister
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist in the distribution of the Eucharist at Mass. They may also bring Communion to the homebound and those in hospitals. Training is provided. If you are interested, please contact the parish office.
Altar Server
Altar servers assist the priest during Mass. Servers are needed at all weekend Masses. Both youth and adults are welcome to serve. Training is provided.
Sacristan
Sacristans prepare the altar and the sacred vessels before Mass and assist with cleanup afterward. This behind-the-scenes ministry is essential to the smooth running of our liturgies.
Usher / Greeter
Ushers and greeters welcome parishioners and visitors as they arrive for Mass. They also assist with seating, collect the offertory, and distribute bulletins after Mass. This is a wonderful ministry for those who enjoy making others feel welcome.
Music Ministry
Music is an integral part of our liturgical life. Our music ministry includes cantors, instrumentalists, and choir members who serve at all our weekend Masses. We welcome musicians of all skill levels. For more information, contact Camryn Hurley, our Music Coordinator.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
During the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass, children ages 4-10 are invited to participate in the Liturgy of the Word at their own level. Leaders guide the children through the readings and a reflection. This ministry is also offered during the 2:00 PM Spanish Mass.
Altar Society
The Altar Society cares for the liturgical environment, including flowers, linens, and candles. Members serve on a rotating basis to ensure our worship space is beautiful and prayerful.
Schedule
Ministry schedules are published quarterly. If you are unable to serve at your assigned time, please arrange a substitute or contact the parish office. For scheduling questions, please contact Pam Silva.
